The Retreat
Close to the coastal community of Mumbles, you will find this hidden gem. This new build project named, “The Retreat” required a meticulous approach to its planning and design.
Situated on a small site within a private residential area, the architect achieved a great deal with the constraints that they were faced with.
With a distinct contrast to the host dwelling, the design placed a highly contemporary and sharp-edged, 4-bedroomed home, set over two floors onto the modest site.
A Steel gate opens to a beautifully paved driveway which leads you down to the feature parking bays. Narrow planed timbers, cement boards, a mass of slimline aluminium framework windows, a standing seam roof and a feature pivot door make up this wonderful exterior palette.
The living spaces are arranged to take full advantage of the internal courtyard, creating a seamless relationship between the light-filled interiors and its private surrounding gardens.
